BMW HERO, mountain bike most important event in Italy, is back in Val Gardena for its 9th edition.
It chose NearIT as partner to involve its participants.
BMW HERO Südtirol Dolomites is one of the most important date on mountain bike lovers’ calendar and it’s the chance to prove themselves in the hardest marathon in the world.
From the 14th to the 17th of June, 4.018 athletes felt as one with nature to get into the contest certified as “Green Alto Adige” as it preserve nature through respect for the environment in all organization processes, using eco and biodegradable materials, and saving energy.
It’s an event with totally low environmental impact but at the same time it confers immeasurable economic and social effects bringing more than 20.000 tourists in the area.
It’s a rally that puts a premium on territory, enhancing and promoting it through the race and through all BMW HERO Bike Festival planned events.
So the competition become a real mountain bike celebration with a calendar packed initiative: discovery of the 2 HERO Trials, HERO Charity Fashion Night (which has taken all the latest news in technical clothing on the catwalk), HERO Kids, HERO Women’s Lounge (an heroes’ women completely devoted area), and the bike ride starting from Corvara or Arabba, through the historical Campolongo, Falzarego and Valparola passes.
BMW HERO Bike Festival is an event able to mobilize an incredible number of people between athletes, suppliers, volunteers and tourists. An event of great magnitude like this cannot help considering how to communicate with all its participants.
So an app was designed to interact with the more than 20.000 tourists involved and NearIT was just the icing on the cake to complete this users’ engagement project.
948 app have been installed on participants devices during the 3 days’ event and 6.260 contextual mobile notifications have been sent.
Thanks to NearIT, organisers have been able to identify strategic points for geofences and beacons to easily achieve baseline target and communicate to them on the basis of their location.
Simple push notifications or other content have been sent to share news, informations and event trivia.
NearIT, once again, turned out to be an effective bridge between event planners and attendees, by simplifying, speeding up and making the parties communication “smart”.
By providing (after users’ consent) important geographical and behavioural data, NearIT helps improve future events and experiences, giving organizers a powerful strategic assessment and planning tool.
